New Articles in Thyme & The Old Schoolhouse

Well, it's December. Has this year gone by as quickly for you as it has for me?

Thyme: Oklahoma Cookies

Since it's the first week of the month, my latest Brought to Mind column will be today's blog post. This month, I'm writing about one of the longest standing Christmas traditions in our family: baking and "painting" cookies. I've included the recipe in my article, so be sure to check it out.

I have an additional note to add to this month's Thyme announcement:

December's article will be my last for A Bundle of Thyme magazine. My schedule is pretty packed lately and I've be revaluating what I want to focus on in writing (and life as a whole, honestly). When I started my column, I had the possibility of only going to the end of the year in the back of my mind, and since more things have come along, I've decided that is the best decision. I've enjoyed getting to share my memories through this column, but it's "thyme" for me to move on.

A Bundle of Thyme will always have a special place in my memory as the first publication other than this blog to share my writing with the world. For that I will always be thankful. In fact, I ran across a cute little wooden sign that says "Thyme" that I bought to commemorate my experience.

If you haven't read any of my articles over the last 6 months or you want to revisit any of them, they are available in the archived issues on the Thyme website.

The Old Schoolhouse: Why do Kids Love Books but Not Literature?

I'm excited to announce my second article for The Old Schoolhouse magazine! In this issue, I'm sharing about a topic that's very connected to my own school experience but doesn't get discussed a lot. If you have kids in middle or high school, whether you homeschool or not, I think there will be some helpful ideas in my article. It begins on page 38.
