A New Article (And a Correction)

In lieu of a blog post this week, I’m sharing my newest article in The Old Schoolhouse. For the Spring 2025 issue, I wrote about “Fun with Fallacies.”

This article provides tips on teaching a middle school logic course that is useful and fun. I drew inspiration from a co-op class my mom taught back when I was a middle schooler myself. In my article, I mention that choosing entertaining examples is one of the most important parts of creating a fun logic class for kids. So, I thought I’d share one of the examples my mom used that we still laugh about today. It is an example of the “slippery slope” fallacy. (Even if you don’t know the first thing about logic, it’ll still give you a giggle.)

That’s a pretty hard act to follow, so don’t expect my article to be quite as entertaining, but if you want to check it out you can find it through this link. I’ve also added it to my freelance writing page.

Now, about the correction. If you visited my about page in the past several weeks, you might have run across a typo. I said in my fun facts that i liked TV shows better than mysteries. You were probably confused since everywhere else in the fun facts I talked about how much I loved mysteries. Well, it was supposed to say I like TV shows better than MOVIES, not mysteries. Mysteries have nothing to do with it. In fact, some of the shows I love are mystery series.

Anyway, I’ve fixed it now and just wanted to acknowledge it in case anyone was confused.
